Barbara Moon-Batista began her term on the CPA Board in March. She has previously served on the Board between 1992 and 1995.
Barbara has 35 years experience in commercial photography and teaching. She is part of a husband-wife team that runs Batista Moon Studio that has served the Central Coast since 1974.
Born in Los Angles CA in 1947, the family relocated to Carmel in 1959. Barbara became influenced at an early age by the work of Edward and Cole Weston and Al Weber also the West Coast School of Photography. Georgia O’Keefe and Imogene Cunningham had profound influence on her when women in photography were rare. She has an AA in Photography from Santa Monica City College and a BA in photography from Antioch College West.
Barbara has collaborated with her husband Fernando Batitsta and has run studios in Monterey, San Francisco and Santa Fe NM. She has taught workshops through UCSC Extension, taught photography at Santa Catalina School for Girls in Monterey as well as private workshops and is currently teaching classes at the Pacific Grove Adult School and the Photographers’ Formulary in Montana with her husband/ partner. Barbara has a passion for education and is currently planning to teach more workshops and classes on photography, lighting and the creative process.
